What To Do If You Are Unhappy
It is very important that you enjoy school. This is because when people enjoy their activities they get far more out of them! It may seem a little daunting to be coming to a new school, especially one which is as big as Methody.
Often people refer to Methody as being like one big family. This is because people genuinely feel cared for here: from pupils in Form 1 to pupils in Upper Sixth, and not forgetting the staff themselves.
However, there are times when we are all less happy than usual!
If this happens, please tell someone.
You can speak to your Tutor, Form Tutor or Mrs Forsythe. If you feel happier talking to another member of staff that's fine too.
Miss Crookes is responsible for the Pastoral Care for Junior School.
Dr Anderson is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and will help with any difficulty you may have.
Pastoral Care is a term we use for looking after your welfare.
Methody is also very fortunate to have a Chaplain.
Rev. Neilands is our Chaplain and he will be very happy to talk you about any problems you may be facing. You can find him in the Chapel or in K Block, at the RE Staffroom.
Remember, you can speak to any member of staff - you may even feel happier speaking to Sister in the San.
If you don't want to speak to staff yourself, then you could ask a parent/guardian to phone us for a chat.
Please don't feel that your concerns don't matter - they do! We will help in whatever way we can - just come and talk to us.
In the past we have asked Form 1 pupils what they were most worried about before they arrived and what things they found easiest to do when they got here. Their answers were:-
Thing most worried about:- Making friends
Easiest thing to do throughout the year:- Making friends

They also said that they loved all the extra curricular activities; they found they made loads of friends at these!
