What To Do If You Are Ill

We are very lucky in Methody because we have our own San - this is a small medical clinic in the grounds of the school.

If you feel ill during class ask the teacher if you can go and see the Sister in the San.  The San is located opposite the outside door into the Lecture Room corridor.  It will be pointed out to you on the first day.

If you have to visit the San, be polite and patient (no pun intended!). Sister is busy and will see you as soon as possible.  If you are very ill, Sister may recommend that you go home.  This is a decision that only Sister can make and she will give you permission - you are not allowed to go home by yourself.

If you are able to go back to class, you will be given an excuse slip from Sister explaining that you have been at the San.

If you have any questions about the San, please ask your Tutor.

If you are sick and unable to come to school your parent / guardian should ring the Administrative Assistant for Junior School, Mrs Rosemary Henderson. Her number is 02890205206.  Details are in other booklets that your parents will receive.

If you have missed school because of absence, on your return you must bring a hand-written note from your parent or guardian, addressed to your Tutor.  It should say why you were absent and give the dates you were off school.  Your Tutor will keep your note and give you a coloured absence slip.  You should show this slip to every teacher whose class you missed, at the beginning of the lesson, and ask him or her to sign the slip.  You should keep the absence slip in your pencil case for a week, in case a teacher asks to see it.

Ensure you catch up on the work you have missed.

If you have been off for more than a week, you may need some help to catch up on all the missed work - speak to your Tutor if this arises.
